Water colors natural fluidity makes it a perfect companion to explore the idea of color mixing. In each shape the students had to have have at least two colors. Since watercolors want to mix when using wet on wet the students had to be careful about color choices and use colors that would work well together and avoid getting mud.
They also had to choose one kind of shape to work with, no mixing and matching different types of shapes. Then to top it off there was an emphasis on making sure that there were interesting negative shapes.
They had a lot to juggle in these compositions and we have some great solutions.
